The Dollar Index fell by 0.3% on Monday, hitting a one-week low due to the strengthening of the yen, which rose to its highest level in 13.5 months. The dollar also faced pressure from increasing speculation that the Fed might cut the federal funds rate target range by 50 basis points at this week's FOMC meeting. Swap markets indicated that the probability of a 50 basis point rate cut rose to 64% from 52% last Friday. A supportive factor for the dollar was the U.S. Empire Manufacturing Survey for September, which showed general business conditions rising more than expected to the highest level in 2.3 years on Monday.

The December Silver Futures price increased. The settlement price on September 16 was $31.135 per troy ounce, up 0.2% from the previous session last week.

The October Platinum Futures price declined sharply. The settlement price on September 16 was $988.2 per troy ounce, down 1.85% from the previous session last week.

The October Copper Futures price rose. The settlement price on September 16 was $4.226 per pound, up 0.88% from the previous session last week.
