The U.S. Dollar Index on Thursday rose slightly by 0.03%, continuing its upward momentum after U.S. unemployment claims fell more than expected.

According to the weekly report from the U.S. Department of Labor, the number of people filing for unemployment benefits last week decreased by 17,000 to 233,000 claims, lower than the 240,000 claims expected by economists in a Dow Jones survey. This indicates a stronger labor market than anticipated, easing concerns about an imminent recession.

The September Silver Contract price surged. The settlement price on August 8 was $27.606 per troy ounce, up 2.46% from the previous session.

The October Platinum Contract price also continued to rise. The settlement price on August 8 was $939.9 per troy ounce, up 1.1% from the previous session.

The September Copper Contract price slightly increased. The settlement price on August 8 was $3.959 per pound, up 0.18% from the previous session.
