U.S. Stock Market Situation on August 15

The U.S. stock market rose for the sixth consecutive session as new reports indicated that consumer and unemployment indices eased investors' fears of an economic recession. Specifically, the S&P 500 Index increased by 1.61%, reaching 5,543.22 points. The Nasdaq Index rose by 2.34%, closing at 17,594.5 points. The Dow Jones Index climbed by 1.39%, ending the session at 40,563.06 points.

U.S. Treasury Bonds Situation on August 15

The yield on the U.S. 10-year Treasury bonds reversed course and surged, reaching 3.923%.

Dollar Index Situation

The Dollar Index also reversed and increased by 0.47%, reaching 103.04 points as U.S. retail sales in July exceeded expectations and jobless claims decreased this week.

Gold Market Situation

The global gold price reversed its trend and rose slightly, with spot gold increasing by $9.1 to $2,457.3 per ounce. Gold futures saw a final trade increase of $8.6 compared to early yesterday morning, reaching $2,494.6 per ounce.

Commodity Market Situation

At the end of yesterday’s trading session, oil prices reversed and rose by more than $1 as new U.S. economic data alleviated investor concerns about an economic recession. Specifically, Brent crude oil prices increased by $1.28, or 1.6%, to $81.04 per barrel. WTI crude oil prices rose by $1.18, or 1.53%, to $78.16 per barrel.
