U.S. Stock Market Situation on August 29

The U.S. stock market showed mixed performance among major indices in Thursday’s trading session as investors awaited the inflation report expected to be released today and as NVIDIA (NVDA) shares declined. Specifically, the S&P 500 Index remained almost flat at 5,591.96 points. The Nasdaq Index fell by 0.23% to 17,516.43 points. In contrast, the Dow Jones Index rose by 0.59%, reaching an all-time high of 41,335.05 points.

U.S. Treasury Bonds Situation on August 29

The 10-year U.S. Treasury bond yield continued its upward trend, reaching 3.863%.

Dollar Index Situation

The Dollar Index continued to rise, gaining 0.28% to reach 101.27 points. The U.S. dollar strengthened in the latest session as newly released data showed that the U.S. economy grew faster than expected.

Gold Market Situation

Global gold prices reversed course, rising with spot gold increasing by 16.9 USD to 2,522 USD per ounce. Gold futures last traded up by 16.8 USD from early yesterday, reaching 2,554.6 USD per ounce.

Commodity Market Situation

At the close of Thursday’s trading session, oil prices rose by more than 1 USD due to supply disruptions in Libya and Iran's planned production cuts. Specifically, Brent crude oil increased by 1.29 USD, or 1.6%, to 79.94 USD per barrel. WTI crude oil rose by 1.39 USD, or 1.9%, to 75.91 USD per barrel.
