Oil and gold prices surged following reports of an explosion near the city of Isfahan in Iran.

On April 18, ABC News cited a U.S. official stating that Israeli missiles seemingly targeted a location in Iran.

Iranian news agency Fars reported that witnesses heard an explosion at an airport in Isfahan, but the cause of the explosion has not been immediately determined. CNN reported that some flights had to reroute through Iranian airspace.

According to Reuters, Iran has several nuclear facilities in Isfahan province, including Natanz, which is central to Iran's uranium enrichment program.

As of 9:55 AM on April 19 (Vietnam time), Brent crude oil rose 3.90% to $90.51 per barrel, while WTI crude oil increased 4% to $86.04 per barrel.

Safe-haven assets also saw a strong increase. Spot gold hit a new peak at $2,411, while gold futures briefly reached $2,433 per ounce, also breaking the previous record. The Japanese Yen rose 0.45% to 153.93 per USD.
